The
Matrix (4/7/1999)
Perhaps you've been asking yourself a question
for a few weeks now: what is The Matrix? Unfortunately, no one should
tell you what The Matrix is... you should really go and see it for
yourself. But you can thank Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers for
giving it to you, and thank the cast which reportedly spent four months
training to do all their own stunts to make it even better. Keanu Reeves
gets his "cool" lessons from Laurence Fishburne, helping Reeves turn in
one of his more acceptable performances of late. Backed by relative newcomer
Carrie-Anne Moss, these three head up the resistance against The Matrix
in order to free humanity by fighting, shooting, or blowing up anything
that stands in the way. More than meaningless action, this adventure comes
with a plot, one that'll keep you thinking well after you get back into
line to see it again. Let The Matrix have you... at least until
May 19th, 1999!
