Hey, remember Joe Dante, the guy that made Gremlins and Small Soldiers?

Although sitting on a shelf since 2009 (but is it still in 3-D as th old posters indicated?), it boasts Quinn Lord from Trick ‘r Treat and genre favoite Bruce Dern (yes, he’s still alive). The trailer looks like Dante’s typical kids-in-a-horror film, just serious enough to menace the tykes but could be fun. It has a limited release on September 28th, 2012 followed by a DVD, Blu-ray and VOD release on October 2, 2012.

Here’ the synopsis:

After moving into a new neighborhood, brothers Dane and Lucas, along with their neighbor Julie, discover a bottomless hole in the basement of their home. They find that once the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. With strange shadows lurking around every corner and nightmares coming to life, they are forced to come face to face with their darkest fears to put an end to the mystery of THE HOLE.
