First of all, can anybody imagine Robert DeNiro actually balling like a baby? Me neither, but there he is on the screen, big as life and crying his eyes out. Believable? Not by a long shot. Funny? You bet. It’s Analyze This, the latest from director Harold Ramis. While not as funny as, say, Groundhog’s Day, the only thing that hurts the humor is the lack of believability in the world the movie creates, which could have made the movie funnier were it more realistic. On a positive note, Billy Crystal turns in a better performance than he has recently. But considering the dribble that was released at the same time, Analyze This shines like a star, and the box office returns are already casting their votes.
