A Houston Film Critics Society (HFCS) Member

In addition to my standing membership with the Online Film Critics Society (since 2002) and inclusion in the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer™ (since 2002), I’m ecstatic to reveal my membership with the Houston Film Critics Society.

A not-for-profit, unincorporated voluntary organization of print, broadcast, and internet film critics based in the Greater Houston metropolitan area that meet its membership criteria. Its purposes include:

Encouraging the publication and broadcasting of substantive critical commentary on film, and cooperation among those regularly engaged in film criticism in the region.

  1. Increasing public awareness and appreciation for cinematic excellence.
  2. Recognizing extraordinary accomplishment in film through the selection of annual recipients of Houston Film Critics Awards and publicizing of those awards.
  3. Honoring both current and former distinguished members of the Association and their contributions to the Association’s mission.

Founded in 2007 by Nick Nicholson and Danny Minton, the Houston Film Critics Society will help to organize and coordinate the local area film critics community.

If I had cheeks, I’d blush.

If I had tear ducts, I’d cry.

Recognition is for good work is always appreciated.

No, not the reaping thing, but yeah — that, too.

Well, back to the grindstone!
